Grab yourself some winter sun

Canary Island of Tenerife is famous for having the highest mountains in Spain and for its unique, distinctive dark lava beaches. However, on our visit, we found that light coloured sandy beaches and a variety of flora and fauna also made Tenerife worth a visit. The different types of beaches attract those who love water sports, families and nature watchers, but appeal to culture vultures and adventure-seekers too. Water parks and zoos provide further fun for the whole family to add to the days at the beach.

Although rocky landscapes dominate the island, there are also green areas that can be found here. Playa de las Americas

Playa de las Américas in the south of the island is the main tourist hub of Tenerife. Nowhere else in the Canaries are there as many hotels and apartment complexes, partly because the Las Américas beach is one of the most beautiful beaches that can be found on Tenerife. This buzzing holiday resort has an enviable array of restaurants, water sports fun and entertainment programs. There are also a few strictly pedestrian areas that are ideal for walking.

El Médano

El Médano on the southeast coast of Tenerife is well known for its long, soft sandy beaches. The beaches of El Médano are ideal for windsurfing and kites because of the ever-present strong winds. This explains the reason you find so many surfing schools where you can order courses and rent equipment. El Médano itself, doesn’t seem too crowded even in the main season and you’ll find all the young surfers and water sports fans flock here for the great waves.
