Honor Magic bets on design: Everything is curved on a dual camera phone

Honor Magic

Expectations were high with Honor Magic, many had put on the table the closest antecedent of Mi Mix, a phone that was initially presented as a concept to end up being a surprising real model. Chinese brands need to say they are there to create, innovate, and remove as soon as possible the idea that you are looking at something that is already on the market.

Honor Magic is that new phone you have to claim the attention to such powerful offering of Chinese artillery, we’ve been talking about it the last few weeks, but now at last we know what makes it special: a system based on curves design, One for each possible side of the phone.

The appeal of using curves ahead and behind and we had seen in the late Note 7, also in the last Mi Note 2 Xiaomi, but here also extends to the upper area, and to a lesser extent to the bottom. In addition to a design exercise, you will also try to create a more ergonomic, handy device.

What is that like many is not a big phone, Honor have been ready pointing to a size that like many: 5.1 inches. It does so with an AMOLED panel with QHD resolution, which places it all around a heavyweight in that pixel density battle (577 ppp).

As for frames, the thing has also been reduced enough, something that marries the curvature, but does not reach the levels of the Mi Mix of Xiaomi, where in images are practically imperceptible. After three years of life, Honor, under the auspices of Huawei, is creating very competitive things in design and we have to value that.

Double camera and heart Kirin

Another of the highlights of the phone we find in the cameras, which are two. It is not the first that has a dual camera on the back, but there is the possibility. Going into detail comment that the rear camera has two sensors 12 megapixels, with a lens with maximum aperture f / 2.2, while on the front we have a camera of 8 megapixels, here opening up to f / 2.0.

Accompanying the front camera is an infrared sensor called WiseScreen, which works alongside the front camera to recognize the user’s hands and eyes. Honor says you can even show us one or more notifications – FaceCode Intelligent Recognition – depending on who you look at.

On the hardware that is responsible for moving all this, as we have to more or less expected Kirin 950, a version of the popular chipset used in the Huawei P9 was also used in the Honor 8. This time the eight cores run at a maximum speed of 2.3GHz, and are accompanied by 4GB of RAM and 64GB for storage.

Returning to the issue of size, it should be noted that its dimensions are actually achieved – 146.1 x 69.9 x 7.8 mm – weighing only 145 grams. For a phone near 5 – inch battery 2900mAh it can be considered decent. It is loaded to 70% in 20 minutes, or 40% in 10 minutes.

Unfortunately for our interests, the phone has China as an initial destination, where it is put on sale tomorrow – with Android 6.0 Marshmallow -. Being a brand with so many global aspirations, and a product so powerful, we will find it strange not to see it here soon.
