Citron E-Berlingo Multispace, an electric ‘minivan’ with up to 170 kilometers of autonomy

It is called E-Berlingo Multispace and is the latest electric vehicle from Citron, a ‘minivan’ van that, by the way, is assembled in the Vigo factory in Galicia. It promises an approved autonomy of 170 kilometers and, according to the French brand, this practical and spacious vehicle is ideal for both businesses and families. It will be on sale in the month of May.

In this way, Citron completes the Berlingo range, which currently has gasoline versions (Puretech) and diesel (BlueHDi), with a variant 100% electric. This adds to the other three electric models of the house: C-Zero, E-Mehari and Berlingo electric boxcar. Citron claims that the main virtue of this E-Berlingo is that it equips the batteries under the floor of the vehicle, on both sides of the rear train, which allows to maintain the cargo space of the passenger compartment.

The five-seat model features a second row of independent, removable seats (2/3 or 1/3 fold) to make room for the cargo, if necessary. The luggage compartment volume is 675 liters with the five seats and up to 3,000 liters without the three seats of the second row, (the rear window may be practicable). In addition, Citron claims that there are another 78 liters of space in the vehicle, between slots and glove compartments.

This Multispace E-Berlingo equips a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor with a power of 49 kW (67 hp) and a maximum torque of 200 Nm, together with a set of lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 22.5 kWh And a warranty of 8 years or 100000 kilometers. The engine, for its part, has a warranty of 5 years or 50,000 kilometers.

The brand claims that the charging process in a domestic outlet can take between 8.5 and 15 hours, depending on amperage, but offers a fast charging option: 50% charge in 15 minutes or 80% in 30 minutes. The conventional charging jack is on the right front flap while the fast charging jack is on the left rear flap.

Among the novelties of the model are the thermal preconditioning – programmable via a smartphone or a computer with Internet -, remote access to vehicle information such as battery charge or remaining charge time, attendants such as speed limiter, help Bluetooth headset, 7-inch touch screen with mirror screen function and Apple Car Play compatibility, browser, etc …
